  • Mine Lick Creek Part 1
    October 21st, 2010
Mine Lick Creek is one of the deepest coves on Center Hill Lake. Plan on spending the day to explore all it's sub coves (8+) and beauty. Make sure to view slide #10 - there are some creative people traveling the lake. Slide #15 is a great shot of a Heron taking flight. Mine Lick Cove is located just to the north of Lakeside Resort.

  • Mine Lick Cove Part 2
    October 28st, 2010
Part 2 continues the Mine Lick Cove series. The water level was very low, around 624 ft. So we could only travel as far back as the water would allow, about 5 miles of some of the nicest views on the lake. Slide 16 and 29 are of Cookeville's water intake system.

  • Second Creek
    March 2nd, 2011
What a way to start off the new season; migrating Seagulls, Loons, and nesting Herons!
The Herons were found just before entering the cove. As we approached, we counted 11 nests in one tree with 10 Herons occupying them.

  • Fancher Falls
    March 18th, 2011
The water level was around 642 ft which allowed us to travel to the falls. Make sure the water is up before attempting this cove. There is a link below that will give the water levels by the hour. The last slide is of an Eagle sitting in it's nest. Just the top of his white head is visible, you've gotta' look close.

  • Little Hurricane Creek
    April 7th, 2011
Turtles, Loons, Herons, and a Picnic Table, what else do you need? This cove is located just past Second Creek on the right. A couple of side coves with the trees starting to green up makes for a beautiful spring day on the lake. By the way, if you're missing a picnic table, you now know where it is!

  • Long Branch
    April 18th, 2010
Long Branch is located South of Lakeside on the West side of the lake. The family of turtles, slide #19 didn't like us in their cove and started jumping off the log as we approached. The Heron could have cared less and was more receptive to being shot (photographed)!

  • Eagle Creek
    April 18th, 2011
This cove should be called "Buzzards Cove" instead. No Eagles, just Buzzards, and ugly ones at that. Eagle Cove branches off of Maynard Branch and is a popular cove due in part to it's proximity to Sligo Marina.

  • Maynard Branch
    April 18th, 2011
Maynard Branch is a very short and narrow cove. Although on the map it looks much deeper. A canoe or kayak would probably be the better way to explore this cove.

  • Fall Creek
    June 20th, 2011
Fall Creek is on the right, south of Sligo Bridge with interesting features. The stumps drinking at waters edge #3 and #11 makes me wonder how long it took them to reach the water. A good cove for watching Herons also.

  • Britch Creek
    June 20th, 2011
Britch Creek is a great little cove on the left past Sligo Bridge. It is definitely a great picnic cove with ample areas to beach you boat or drop anchor. We had a Heron guide us to the back where we spotted it's nest high in the tree, slide #22, occupied by two chicks (Heron).

  • Burgess Falls Cove
    July 10th, 2011
Another early morning shoot (5:30am). We headed to Burgess Falls and on the way spotted an Eagle washing it's food on the shore. Heading up Falling Waters River the water was as smooth as glass with great reflective quality. Due to water level we could not reach the falls. Slide #19 is an Osprey.

5am and on the lake. Between the lifting fog and the orange tinted skies it doesn't get much better. This series was shot heading towards Hurricane bridge from Lakeside Resort
